Young Gold Medalist Powerlifter Yashtika Acharya Dies in Training Accident

Yashtika Acharya, a 17-year-old gold medal-winning powerlifter, tragically lost her life during a training session in Bikaner, Rajasthan in India. The accident happened when a 270-kg weightlifting rod slipped and fell on her neck while she was practicing with her coach.

Videos of the incident have been widely shared on social media. According to officials, the impact of the heavy rod was severe, causing fatal injuries. Her coach, who was assisting her, also suffered minor injuries.

She was immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Yashtika had previously won a gold medal in the Junior National Games, making her a rising star in powerlifting. Her untimely passing has shocked the sports community.
