Parliamentary Candidate calls for probe into fire incident at late Krachi East MCE’s Office

Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Krachi East Constituency and former Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Michael Yaw Gyato has for swift investigation into what he describes as “strange fire incident”, that ravaged the office of the late Krachi East MCE  Bernard Aboakogya Mensah.

Speaking to journalists at Krachi, the former Minister indicated that the Municipal Assembly is made up of about 11 offices and a conference room and only the office of the late MCE’s office got burnt, “which is strange and quite suspicious”.

He appealed to the government to consider it an urgency to form a commission to investigate the recent fire outbreak at the office of the late Krachi East Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Aboakogya Mensah in the Oti Region.

The former Minister also urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Mr. Julius Kuunuor and others to deploy measures to investigate the incident that ravaged only an office of the Assembly block.

The Parliamentary Candidate urged residents and authorities to assist with information to help the security agencies to speed up the ongoing investigation, and unravel the mystery. 

Assistant Chief fire Officer (ACFO l) Commander in the Oti Region Mr Prince Billy Anaglate explained that he was prompted by a cold store Manager, Prince Mark who reported the incident to them, when it occurred.

He said Officers were deployed to the scene who were able to control the fire but, documents and properties in the office were  destroyed.

Mr. Anaglate said the out come of their investigation will be made available to the public.

Leaderships of the New Patriotic Party, NPP in the Krachi East Municipal of the Oti Region are preparing for the one week observation of the late MCE, Bernard Aboakogya Mensah.
