Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih was among the hardest hit as Russia launched what officials called the most intense drone and missile attack on the city since the war began. The overnight strike knocked out power and water, caused multiple fires, and injured at least 15 people.
The attack involved 28 drones and a ballistic missile targeting key infrastructure across the central Ukrainian city. Local officials say the damage left entire neighborhoods in darkness, as emergency crews worked through the night to restore essential services.
“This was the most massive attack on Kryvyi Rih since the beginning of the war,” said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s military administration. He added that Russian forces appear to be focusing on Ukraine’s energy systems to weaken civilian resilience.
President Zelensky confirmed that energy facilities were targeted and called for more international support, particularly in the form of air defense systems and interceptor missiles. “Russia is not changing its strategy,” Zelensky said. “To stop this terror, we must strengthen our defenses.”
The latest strikes add to the growing list of Russian attacks aimed at Ukrainian cities far from the front lines, raising alarm about the country’s vulnerable infrastructure and the need for continued foreign military aid.
