Ghana’s Embassy in the United States of America says it will from Tuesday, March 17, 2020 suspend consular services for the issuance of Ghanaian visas and passports due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision to suspend, according to the Embassy in a statement signed by Head of Information & Public Affairs, Kofi Tonto, had become necessary as a precautionary measure to protect clients.

The statement on Monday, March 16, indicated: “All mails received prior to the effective date will be processed and dispatched to applicants.”

“The Embassy in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is also suspending all official travels and public engagements.”

Ghana recorded four more cases of the deadly coronavirus bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to six.
