Engineers of the Ghana Water Company have started major repair works on transmission lines at Gbetsile in the Greater Accra Region which have developed leakages.

Over the last few weeks, parts of the Tema metropolis have been without water due to damages to the lines.

The repair work is to fix the problem and restore water supply to affected communities within Tema and its environs.

As a result, general water supply in Tema has been officially suspended for four days.

Speaking to the media during an inspection by officials from the Head and Tema Regional Offices, the Engineer in-charge of the project, Charles Brobbey observed that some residents had built too close to the pipelines suggesting that such buildings may have to be pulled down.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company, Stanley Martey, told the affected Communities that supply will be restored immediately after completion of the repair works on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
