It is a challenge to immediately identify Ahmed Suale's killers – Ghana police

The Ghana Police Service says it is a challenge to immediately identify the culprits in the murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein Suale.

According to the Police, there is no known contact between Hussein Suale and whoever maybe suspected to have committed the murder.

Investigative Journalist, Ahmed Hussein Suale who worked with Anas’ Tiger Eye PI, was shot three times by unidentified men riding a motorbike, twice in the chest and once in the neck, while he was driving home at Madina in Accra on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

His murder attracted widespread strong condemnation from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Presidents’ Jerry John Rawlings and John Mahama, the Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition, Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the United Nations (UN), and Amnesty International, among other bodies and the public who have all called for the immediate arrest of the assailants.

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs programme “Talking Point”, which discussed Vigilantism and Human Security, the Director General, Police Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu said that in the last four years about two thousand murders have been committed out, of which a little over 450 have been resolved.

Programmes Manager of the National Commission on Small Arms, John Asante Twum, said although the current security situation in the country is worrying, it is not alarming in the global context.

For his part, the Executive Director, West Africa Network for Peace Building WANEP, Dr. Chukwuemeka Eze, called for the inclusion of personal security education in the school curriculum.
