President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of Palestine to embrace diplomacy, commit to dialogue, and put an end to the ongoing cycle of violence. He made the appeal during the presentation of humanitarian relief items at the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday August 1, 2025.
President Mahama said the suffering of innocent civilians, especially women and children, in conflict zones is heartbreaking. He described the images coming out of Palestine as painful reminders that behind every news report and statistic are real people who long for peace, dignity, and hope.
The President stressed that Ghana supports a peaceful, negotiated two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, in line with international law and United Nations resolutions. He urged both sides to engage sincerely and work toward lasting peace through mutual respect and understanding.
As a sign of solidarity, the government of Ghana donated 40 metric tons of cocoa-based products to the people of Palestine. The donation, made up of Premier Ghana-made chocolate under the Golden Tree brand, was described by President Mahama as both symbolic and practical.
He explained that cocoa, one of Ghana’s most treasured natural resources, represents resilience, generosity, and the spirit of the Ghanaian people. Beyond symbolism, he said the cocoa products offer real health benefits—supporting the immune system, improving heart health, and helping women and children stay nourished.
President Mahama also praised the Palestinian community in Ghana for their contributions to national development, citing the construction of a modern classroom block in the Dramanikope community in North Tongu in the Volta region and in the northern region as a shining example of global citizenship and compassion.
He used the occasion to urge the Israeli authorities to open humanitarian corridors into Gaza to allow much-needed aid to reach families in need.
President Mahama expressed his appreciation to the Ghana Cocoa Board, the Cocoa processing Company, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other partners for making such an event possible through their tireless efforts and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to peace, justice, and international solidarity.
“Please know that you do not walk alone,” he said. “Ghana stands with you.”
