The Government and People of the Republic of Vanuatu have extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the people of Ghana following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians on August 6, 2025.

In an official statement issued by the Vanuatu Trade Commission – Ghana, the Pacific Island nation expressed solidarity with Ghana in what it described as a moment of national heartbreak. The crash, which occurred en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, involved high-ranking officials whose service, the statement noted, “symbolized progress, unity, and the unwavering pursuit of national development.”

“The Government and People of the Republic of Vanuatu, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, and the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana extend heartfelt condolences… following the heartbreaking loss,” the statement read.

The statement described the fallen officials as courageous and patriotic individuals whose legacies will be remembered not only in Ghana but across Africa.

“This tragic incident has shaken the very foundation of public service and military honour in Ghana and has resonated across the continent,” the statement said. “We join the nation of Ghana and the entire African family in mourning the fallen heroes” the statement read.

The Government and People of the Republic of Vanuatu, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, and the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana extend heartfelt condolences to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the good People of the Republic of Ghana following the heartbreaking loss of eight distinguished Ghanaian nationals in the military helicopter crash that occurred en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025.

This tragic incident has shaken the very foundation of public service and military honour in Ghana and has resonated across the continent.
