The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will officially commence on Friday, September 12, with a grand launch ceremony at the Accra Sports Stadium. President John Dramani Mahama is set to perform the ceremonial kick-off, symbolizing the start of yet another thrilling football season in Ghana. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
The opening ceremony promises more than just the presidential kick-off, featuring an electrifying live performance by award-winning reggae-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, also known as the Torcher. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) shared the exciting news on their official X account, encouraging football fans to attend and support local talent both on and off the pitch.

Following the ceremony, the first match of the season will pit Accra Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana’s most celebrated clubs, against Hohoe United FC, who are making their debut in the Premier League. The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking a historic moment for the newcomers.
The opening weekend will feature a total of nine matches. After Friday’s season opener, two matches will be played on Saturday, followed by six matches on Sunday. This packed schedule marks the beginning of a competitive season with clubs striving to make their mark in Ghanaian football.
