Two people captured in a viral video assaulting an 11-year-old girl have been arrested by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.

A police brief identified the suspects as Grace Mensah, 75, the victim’s grandmother, and Godfred Osei Akoto, 25. They were arrested at Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.

The victim has since been rescued, and both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to assist with investigations.

Police said the video was detected on TikTok and other social media platforms, prompting public calls for intervention.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the video was first uploaded by a user identified as Tina Adjei, with the TikTok handle @tina.adjei7.

According to the police, the footage shows a young man assaulting the child in the presence of an elderly woman later identified as her grandmother.

Following the identification of the location, the police team proceeded to Agona Jamasi, where Grace Mensah was arrested.
