The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, says security agencies have arrested 141 people in a major operation against organised cybercrime in Tabora and Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Minister, the Cyber Security Authority, working with the Ghana Police Service, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service, carried out an early-morning intelligence-led operation on Wednesday December 24, 2025 in Tabora and Lashibi.
Mr. Sam George in a Facebook post on Saturday December. 27, 2025, said 100 suspects were arrested in Tabora, while 41 others were picked up in Lashibi. Preliminary investigations show that the suspects are believed to be Nigerian nationals.
He indicated that during the operation, security agencies seized 38 laptops and about 150 mobile phones. The devices are suspected to have been used for cyber-enabled financial crimes.

Mr George disclosed that a Ghanaian landlord who accommodated about 100 of the suspects in his house was also arrested. He stressed that landlords have a responsibility to ensure their properties are not used for criminal activities.
The Minister revealed that suspects are alleged to be involved in crimes such as Mobile Money fraud, romance scams, sextortion, business email compromise, and wire fraud.
The Minister said forensic analysis is currently being conducted on the seized devices, and all persons found culpable will be dealt with according to Ghanaian law.
He urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious digital activities to support the national fight against cybercrime.
Mr George assured that Ghana remains open to foreigners engaged in legitimate business but warned that anyone who comes to the country to commit cybercrime will be arrested and prosecuted.
