The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a viral video allegedly firing a gun at a public event in Accra.

Police said the incident happened at the El-Wak Stadium on Saturday, December 28. The suspect, named as Abubakari Sadick and known as “Cyborg”, was arrested the following day at Adenta.

A Derya MK-12 firearm, which police say was used in the incident, has been retrieved and kept as evidence.

The suspect is in custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be taken to court.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday, December 30, the police reminded the public that holding a registered firearm does not give licence to fire it indiscriminately, warning that gun permits can be revoked and offenders prosecuted.
