The 47th Change of Guard Ceremony has been held at the Presidency in Accra, with the Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in attendance.

The ceremony, a formal and symbolic military tradition, saw the Ghana Air Force hand over guard duties at the Presidency to the Ghana Army. The event was attended by government officials, members of the security services and a number of school children.
Also present were the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Alex Segbefia; the Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka; Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi; Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; and the Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Apaak.

The ceremony marked the transfer of security responsibility from one military unit to another and was characterised by discipline, precision drills, military band performances and colourful displays reflecting national pride and the professionalism of the armed forces.

During the event, the Air Force formally handed over responsibilities to the Army in a well-coordinated parade featuring distinctive Army band formations and ceremonial drills.
The ceremony concluded with the full installation of the new guard, officially marking the beginning of their duty. The Army will be responsible for guard duties at the Presidency for the next three months.

As the first line of security at the seat of government, the guard unit serves as the immediate point of call in matters relating to security at the Presidency before other security agencies are engaged.
