India opens 2026 ICCR scholarships for Ghanaian students

India offers scholarships to Ghanaian students for 2026–2027 academic year

The High Commission of India in Accra has announced the opening of applications for scholarships available to Ghanaian students for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The scholarships are being offered through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), under the Ministry of External Affairs of the India.

According to the High Commission, the scholarships will allow Ghanaian students to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes at universities and institutes across India in a wide range of disciplines.

Two scholarship schemes are available for the upcoming academic year.

The first is the India–Africa Maitri Scholarship Scheme, which offers 70 slots for Ghanaian students to undertake undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies in both STEM and non-STEM fields at participating Indian universities.

The second scheme is the Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship Scheme, which provides opportunities for students to study aspects of Indian culture. These include dance, music, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages and Indian cuisine.

The scheme also offers a one-year diploma course in yoga at selected institutions.

The ICCR scholarships provide financial support covering return economy class airfare, full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, accommodation support and other academic allowances in line with ICCR guidelines.

Applications must be submitted online through the ICCR Admission to Alumni Scholarship Portal.

The application portal opened on February 27, 2026, and the deadline for submission of applications is April 15, 2026.

Prospective applicants have been advised to review the eligibility criteria, academic requirements and details of participating universities before submitting their applications.
