The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Judicial Service of Ghana to strengthen collaboration in the production and use of official statistics.

The agreement marks a significant step towards improving how data is generated, shared and applied within Ghana’s governance and development framework. Both institutions say the partnership will help ensure that reliable and timely data supports decision-making at all levels.

Under the arrangement, the GSS and the Judicial Service will focus on enhancing administrative data systems within the justice sector. This includes improving the collection, management and analysis of data generated through judicial processes, which is expected to contribute to more accurate national statistics.

The collaboration will also promote more efficient data sharing between the two institutions, reducing gaps and inconsistencies in official records. By aligning their efforts, both bodies aim to ensure that data produced meets national statistical standards and reflects best practices.

Another key objective of the MoU is to encourage the use of high-quality data for planning, monitoring and evaluation. With better access to reliable information, policymakers and stakeholders will be better equipped to assess performance, track progress and design interventions that respond effectively to national needs.

Officials say the partnership will not only improve data quality within the judicial sector but also strengthen Ghana’s overall statistical system. It is also expected to enhance transparency, accountability and evidence-based governance.

The agreement underscores the growing recognition of data as a critical tool for national development, as institutions increasingly adopt a more data-driven approach to policy formulation and implementation.
