The KGL Group has paid one hundred and fifty-three million, two hundred and thirteen thousand, nine hundred and ten Ghana cedis (GHS 153,213,910 million) to the Ghana Revenue Authority in fulfillment of its 2025 tax obligations, reinforcing its commitment to Civic responsibility .
The payment was made on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the GRA head office. The gathering included GRA officials, KGL executives, and members of the media.
In his welcome address, Acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD), Dr. Martin Yamborigya, described the gesture as a strong example of partnership between government and the private sector.
“It is a very exciting morning because KGL Group is here to help us fulfill part of our mandate of building the nation,” he said. “The vision of resetting Ghana depends on collective partnership, particularly from businesses that voluntarily comply with their tax obligations.”
He stressed that taxation remains central to development. “No one is going to do this for us. We must contribute through taxation to build our roads, schools, and healthcare systems,” he added, urging other businesses to emulate KGL’s example.
Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, also commended KGL for its compliance, describing tax payment as both a legal and civic duty.
“Paying taxes is not only a legal obligation but also a civic responsibility and a sign of patriotism. Without taxes, no nation can develop,” he stated.
He further used the occasion to encourage individuals and businesses to file their tax returns within the stipulated period, noting that April is designated as Tax Education Month.
Presenting the cheque, Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Alex Dadey, said tax compliance is a core value of the company.
“This is not just about paying taxes; it is a mindset. Taxes belong to the people, and what we are doing is returning what rightfully belongs to them,” he said.
He added, “We cannot demand trust from society if we do not practice discipline ourselves. We cannot speak of patriotism while evading responsibility.”
Beyond taxation, KGL highlighted its corporate social responsibility efforts through the KGL Foundation, which invests heavily in community development projects, including healthcare, education, and sports.
The GRA reiterated its commitment to ongoing tax reforms to make compliance simpler and more efficient, while calling on all businesses to follow KGL’s example in supporting Ghana’s development through voluntary tax compliance.
