Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reportedly died.
The former police chief, recognised for his firm approach to discipline and efforts to modernise the Ghana Police Service, is said to have passed away after a period of illness.
Details surrounding his death remain limited.
Although official confirmation from the family is yet to be finalised, tributes have begun pouring in from senior figures within the police service, describing him as a committed and principled law enforcement officer.
Mr Quaye was appointed Inspector-General of Police in 2009 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
During his time in office, he was credited with introducing reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism within the service and rebuilding public trust in the police.
Often described by colleagues as a “gentle giant” for his calm nature and decisive leadership, Mr Quaye retired from the Ghana Police Service in 2013 after many years of service.
