The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor has reaffirmed government’s commitment to delivering stable and reliable electricity across the country, declaring that no Ghanaian should be left behind in accessing power.
Speaking on the state of Ghana’s energy sector during the Government Accountability Series today, the Minister said the government is prioritizing investments and policy reforms aimed at ending erratic supply, reducing system losses, and expanding access to underserved communities.
“Government’s commitment is to deliver stable and reliable electricity across the country. No Ghanaian should be left behind in accessing power,” Jinapor stated.
According to the Minister, the administration is focusing on three key areas: generation adequacy, transmission and distribution efficiency, and last-mile connectivity.
Jinapor also tied stable power delivery to Ghana’s climate commitments. He said reliable electricity from cleaner sources will cut dependence on expensive liquid fuels, reduce emissions, and lower costs for industry.
Green transition does not mean expensive power. It means sustainable, affordable, and reliable power. We are aligning policy so that renewable projects, battery storage, and efficiency programs directly improve supply for households and businesses,” he explained.
He added that the government will not pass unsustainable costs to consumers but will pursue tariff structures that protect lifeline users while ensuring utilities recover costs.
The Minister urged the public to report illegal connections and support energy conservation, noting that system losses undermine reliability for paying customers.
