The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., has been honoured with the prestigious Overall Best CEO of the Year Award – Public Sector at the Ghana CEO Summit 2026 held at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.

The award, presented during the 10th edition of the Ghana CEO Summit on Thursday, May 28, 2026, recognized Mr. Gyamfi’s outstanding leadership and impactful contributions in transforming Ghana’s gold and precious minerals sector.

The high-profile event brought together key stakeholders from government and industry, including the special guest of honor, President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Paramount Chief of the Asogli State and Chairman of the event, Togbe Afede XIV, as well as chief executives and managing directors from both public and private sector institutions.

Mr. Gyamfi’s latest recognition adds to a growing list of honours earned within a short period of his leadership at the GoldBod.

Earlier in February 2026, he was adjudged Best Public Company CEO at the Radio and Television Personality Awards.

Under his leadership, the Ghana Gold Board has also recorded significant institutional achievements. In March 2026, the GoldBod was named State-Owned Enterprise of the Year, Most Profitable State-Owned Enterprise and Overall Best Specified Entity at the State Interests and Governance Authority’s Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) Awards.

Since assuming office, Mr. Gyamfi has led aggressive reforms aimed at formalising Ghana’s artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold sector, strengthening responsible sourcing systems, combating smuggling and improving foreign exchange mobilisation through strategic gold trading interventions.

Within barely a year of its establishment, the GoldBod has emerged as one of Ghana’s most impactful public institutions, playing a central role in supporting the Bank of Ghana’s gold reserve accumulation programme while championing value addition, traceability and local refining initiatives.

The institution has also gained growing international recognition, attracting delegations and strategic stakeholders from across Africa and beyond seeking to understudy the GoldBod model and its role in repositioning Ghana’s gold sector.

Observers say the recognition of Mr. Gyamfi at the Ghana CEO Summit reflects not only his personal leadership credentials but also the rapid rise of the GoldBod as a strategic pillar within Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.
