The President of the GJA, Roland Affail Monney, announced this at the launch of the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Association in Accra.

The Anniversary, which was formally launched by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, is on the theme: “Democracy, freedom and independence of the media in Ghana: 70 years of GJA’s contribution.”

Since the establishment of the GJA, on August 15, 1949, it has played a very significant role in the political discourse and socio-economic development of the country.

Mr. Monney said special package would be Industry Leadership Awards for three top media entrepreneurs in Ghana.

“We wish to place on record that one award for the Platinum Anniversary which outshines all other awards and which goes to the entire media community comes from a government with the deepest liberal instincts in Ghana led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo. And that award is the Right to Information Law.”

He said while the GJA awaits the Right To Information (RTI) implementation structures and strategies, it was grateful to its numerous sponsors.
