The Ghanaian Times comments on the recent report of the drowning of 12 teenagers at Apam in the Central region. The incident, the paper says, could have been avoided if all stakeholders had been diligent and watchful enough. It notes that the situation brings to the fore the problem of disobedience in society because the children defied the ban not to go to that side of the beach. It says this behavior, common in most children, is fuelled by the so called human rights tenets to the neglect of the traditional upbringing and if not checked will be a recipe for chaos for society in future. The drowning of the children, the Times believes, should not be seen as just an incident but rather a lesson to the children themselves, parents, community members and the police to prevent the unexpected from happening.

The Daily Graphic lauds all those who have made the beginning of the COVID 19 vaccination successful, influencing those who had misgivings about the vaccine, to change their minds and go for their shots. Although the eagerness to get vaccinated is a good sign, the paper is worried that some categories of people who are to benefit from the initial doses may lose out, as current statistics indicate they are staying away, while those in the not- at- risk category are rather massing up at the vaccination centers. The Graphic therefore urges the Ghana Health Service and its partners to ensure proper screening before vaccination so that the most vulnerable are allowed to get vaccinated first.
