The Ghanaian Times commends the Electoral Commission (EC) for its preparation towards the December polls. The paper is enthused that Madam Jean Mensa says the Commission is fully prepared and ready to conduct a successful, credible, fair and peaceful elections when she briefed Parliament last Saturday. It says it is refreshing that barely a month to the polls, the election supervisory body has delivered some of the items required for the elections to its regional and district offices across the country. The Times therefore urges the public to take advantage of this golden democratic opportunity and exercise their franchise in an orderly manner.

The Daily Graphic urges Ghanaians to work collectively towards attaining peace in the country. The paper notes that peace is not a mere wish but rather, doing away with arms and weapons adjudged to be the most immediate challenge that fuels violence and insecurity. The Graphic therefore calls for collaboration between the National Peace Council and the Ghana National Commission on Small Scale Arms and Light Weapons to craft the mitigation of negative influence of such weapons in the electoral process. The paper charges government and the security agencies to work at ensuring the possible impact of illegal weapons in people’s hands is mitigated and also provide direction for gun ownership in Ghana.
