The Ghanaian Times appreciates the enormous efforts put into laying to rest the Nobel Peace Laureate. It says he was a peaceful man, he died peacefully and his funeral was held in a peaceful atmosphere attended by peace-loving individuals, organisations and world leaders. The paper says it wishes to once more extend its condolences to the bereaved family and his friends and colleagues at the UN and urge them to continue to be inspired and aspire to provide the leadership for the kind of world we all wish to live on.

The Daily Graphic does not understand why poverty and some public health diseases such as cholera still kill Ghanaians despite the discovery of oil. It puts the problem on the ineffective use of the oil revenue and poor accountability of resources accrued from the sector. The paper is worried that since 2011 when Public Interest Accountability Committee (PIAC) was established, there have been instances where authorities mandated to ensure proper accountability of oil revenues have not fulfilled their responsibilities. The Graphic thinks that PIAC can do more to ensure better accountability. It should ensure through lawful means, a cessation of the abuse of the oil revenue so that the lives of Ghanaians especially the poor can improve.
