The Daily Graphic is satisfied with assurances by the Police to ensure a peaceful general election come December, 7. The paper says measures put in place by the security agencies in that regard is reassuring but believes efforts by the National Election Security Task Force will come to naught if candidates and party supporters do not do their part. It urges the public to refrain from acts of violence and advises the media to validate information before disseminating them to avoid unnecessary tension. The paper calls on people living in the border towns to be vigilant and prevent foreigners from entering the country to foment trouble.

The Ghanaian Times extols the virtues of late Former President Rawlings and commiserates with the family. The paper believes that though Mr. Rawlings had his shortcomings, his contribution to nation building cannot be overlooked. It says the late former President achieved a lot for humankind and for this reason Ghanaians must unite as a people and carry on from where he left off. It finds it regrettable that days after his passing, there has been petty bickering which suggests that differences are developing as to how the country is going to unite to give him a befitting funeral as a statesman. The Times says the rising counter arguments are needless emphasising that Mr Rawlings was a president for all.
