The Daily Graphic expresses support for the roadmap outlined to lift the ban on small scale mining. The paper applauds what it calls the yeoman’s job by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining in coming up with the roadmap. It calls on people whose livelihoods depend on illegal mining to co-operate with government to ensure that Ghana does not return to the bad times. The Graphic urges government to be relentless in its efforts to tackle the illegal mining menace by applying the rules to all who are seen to be thwarting efforts to fight the canker.

The Ghanaian Times bids farewell to Statesman, technocrat, diplomat and politician J.H. Mensah, who will be laid to rest today. The paper praises his diverse contribution to national development especially democracy. It says as a true democrat and patriot, J.H. Mensah always resorted to the courts as the best mechanism for dispute resolution without recourse to violence. The Times mourns with the family, and urges it to take consolation in the fact that his memories would continue to be an inspiration to future generations.
