The Daily Graphic in its editorial lays emphasis on how far the country has come 64 years on. It says as the country marks this all-important occasion, it is imperative to place prominence on staying responsible while opinions shared publicly are informed. To the Paper being independent ultimately calls for self-sacrifice, patriotism and love for country. It asks that Ghanaians use the coincidence of the day with the Supreme Court ruling in the 2020 Election Petition last Thursday to re-commit to the ideals of rule of law and democratic accountability. The Graphic says to achieve all these, the country needs peace and stability to consolidate gains made for a better Ghana.

The Ghanaian Times is concerned about how the COVID-19 pandemic has overshadowed some other serious issues. To this effect, the Paper calls the public’s attention to other things particularly the rains and flooding and appeal that the relevant organisations should keep their eyes on the ball. The Paper hopes urgent attention will be given to the two issues even though they do not often occur. The Times says its devastation on social life, mental health and livelihoods cannot be quantified. The Paper asks that drains be freed of silt and evacuation centres earmarked before the rains do havoc.
