The Daily Graphic welcomes the partnership between UNESCO, Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Communications in an effort to eliminate bullying as schools reopen this week. According to the paper, videos of seniors bullying and molesting their juniors are already circulating on social media just days into the reopening of schools. It says such practices leave students with low esteem and reduces the interest of victims in school and its activities. The paper points to the declaration of the first Thursday in November every year by UNESCO as International Day against violence and bullying in school, as a step in the right direction, and calls on school authorities to pay special attention to the menace in their institutions.
The Ghanaian Times is worried about the possibility of the public not adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols despite a directive by President Akufo Addo to the Police for the enforcement of the protocols. This is because a larger portion of the public have consistently ignored compliance to the protocols while insisting the coronavirus is a myth. The Times calls for support for the Police in the enforcement of the safety protocols, especially the wearing of masks in public places. This according to the paper is the only way to defeat the virus as it would stop the spread and increase chances of containing it.
