The Daily Graphic associates itself with the appeal by Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Micheal Gyato to MMDAs to strengthen enforcement activities against open defecation. It however thinks much more needs to be done, especially by way of sensitising the people to behavioural change. The paper says behavioral change cannot be fully achieved if that toilet facilities are unavailable in areas where human activities are concerntrated. It notes that the unpleasant result of lack of toilets is the outbreak of cholera which is no respector of persons and can wreak serious havoc.
The Ghanaian Times believes British Immigration Officials acted with high-handedness in the deportation of Ghanaian- Born UBS financial trader Kweku Adoboli. It says the deportation could have been carried out with a human face in line with values exposed in the UN Declaration of Human Rights that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. While the Times condemns the unethical conduct of Mr Adoboli, it takes exception to the inhuman treatment meted out to him and urges the UN Human Rights Commission to take a serious view of the indications, Mr Adoboli has shown remorse for his involvement in a financial scandal and learnt from the consequences. While sympathizing with Adoboli, the Times encourages him to continue to be useful to society by sharing his experiences to improve the conduct of business.
