The Ghanaian Times disagrees with the notion that members of the LGBTQI community operate within the Freedom of Association enshrined in the Constitution. It rejects the practice of homosexuality and marriage among such persons in the country. The paper disagrees with proponents of LGBTQI who defend the practitioners under the guise of human rights, adding that Human Rights should not be linked to practices that are inhumane. The Times commends the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh Amoaning for drawing the attention of the Authorities to the office space of the LBGTQI at Tesano in Accra and urging them to close it down. It says the law is clear on the matter, and should not be compromised.
The Daily Graphic adds to the chorus of voices advocating the need to maintain an appreciable level of decency in dressing on school campuses. This is because tertiary institutions are not just avenues where people are taught academically, but also trained to be socially responsible and morally up-right. It is for this reason the paper supports the position of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional studies, (UPSA) Prof Abednego Amartey on the matter. Prof Amartey issued a directive that students who dress indecently on campus should not be allowed to attend lectures. The Graphic entreats other universities, particularly those established by religious bodies to ensure decency in dressing on campus, because their track record on the matter has been poor.
