The Daily Graphic charges the political parties, their supporters and sympathizers to exercise the greatest restraint as they go about criss-crossing the country for their campaign activities. It says Ghana needs everybody alive to contribute to its socio-economic development. According to the paper, what is the sense in spending one’s energy and resources to follow a political party, only to lose one’s life and forfeit all the expectations one has. It says, what will be the need for a political party to win elections, only to have lost, through accidents its members, including key people who will man sensitive areas of state. The paper says the call by authorities at the road safety dialogue last week for political parties to include road safety measures in their campaign messages and activities to help reduce accidents especially in the lead-up to the December elections must be heeded to by the parties.

The Ghanaian Times finds the newly drafted Defamation Bill gratifying. The Bill seeks to codify existing laws on defamation to suit the Ghanaian context and protect the reputation of all persons from unjustifiable attacks. The paper says it will be a game changer in the country’s legal reform to protect the rights and reputation of people. It believes the country has come a long way in its democracy and there is therefore the need for citizens to consolidate the gains made under the system of governance by striving to uphold freedom of speech and at the same time, protect the rights and freedom of others. The paper calls for increased due diligence on the draft bill before its passage into law so that it will stand the test of time by meeting the demands of periodic legal review.
