The Ghanaian Times says the increasing murder of spouses in the country whether by men or women is a major concern. The paper believes the underlining cause of these killings is anger. It says some people lack emotional intelligence which has resulted in not only the killing of spouses but also violent acts perpetrated by some youth and others in society. The Times therefore suggests that emotional intelligence be introduced at all levels of the education system, in churches and workplaces to address the difficulty in handling provocative situations. It also calls for the discouragement of all cultural stereotypes that incite men to see women as sub-humans to reduce the canker.
The Daily Graphic writes on tuberculosis, one of the world’s deadliest and infectious diseases whose day was observed globally yesterday. The paper says as the disease continues to be a challenge in Ghana, there is the need to stop stigmatizing people infected with the disease, a factor affecting the national fight against TB. The paper believes it behoves government and stakeholders to invest in TB research yearly as the disease remains a public health crisis and a security threat. It therefore calls on stakeholders including government to join the fight to eradicate TB completely. It also calls for public education and support, to intensify the TB case finding and sample transportation strategies by the Ghana Health Service, which are geared towards ending the epidemic.
