The Daily Graphic writes on the placement of qualified candidates into Senior High Schools for the 2020/21 academic year. It observes that many candidates are not happy with their placement because they did not secure their preferred choice even though they scored high grades. This, the paper believes has resulted in delays in the enrollment process. The paper sympathizes with such students but urges parents and guardians to encourage their children to take up their placements irrespective of the school, to avoid further delays in the academic year. It says due to the delays as a result of the coronavirus, the Ghana Education Service has adopted the all-year-round calendar which in the paper’s view must work successfully. The paper acknowledges that the move will put a lot of strain on both teachers and students but believes the effort students put into learning is what matters and not necessarily the school they are placed.

The Ghanaian Times: The Ghana Health Service calls on all to make a conscious effort to handle discrimination against TB patients and their caregivers. According to the service, the major hurdle in the fight against TB is the stigma against persons diagnosed with the infection. The Times shares the long-held opinion that the perception of TB being an incurable terminal disease, coupled with the fact that new cases occur every year, makes it difficult for people to associate with TB patients. The Times, therefore, urges the Ghana Health Service and the National Commission for Civic Education, to collaborate and work out strategies that will erase the stigma attached to TB and rather instill in the public empathy for patients of the disease and their caregivers.
