The Ghanaian Times is championing the need to strengthen Ghana’s family systems. The paper points out that the family is the foundation for the building of a strong and well knitted nation that can play an influential role in the up-bringing of children to become useful in society. The Times quotes the Deputy Gender Minister, Freda Prempeh who made a point at a conference in Accra that ”a healthy and solid family translates into healthy and solid society, thereby impacting socio-economic development”. The paper points out that society thrives, when parents are able to promote the positive development of their children, to complement efforts of other agents of socialisation, like the school system and the church. It is in light of this that the Times commends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for spearheading a national discourse on the need to strengthen family systems to promote development.
