The Ghanaian Times says it is important for everyone to join in the breast cancer campaign because a lot of women are affected by the disease in their lifetime. As Ghana yesterday launched this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness month also known as Pink October, the paper believes it is time everyone comes on board to encourage women to constantly assess their breast cancer risk for early detection and treatment. The Times says the situation where some women diagnosed with the disease at the benign stage but refuse to seek medical attention is worrying. It urged such people to seek medical attention early as they could be treated at that stage; therefore there is no need to be afraid if diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Daily Graphic lauds the Casa De Ropas initiative, an indigenous agri-business in Gomoa Bewadze in the Central Region that produces and processes orange-flesh sweet potato into pastries describing it as a potential game changer that the nation must rally around. The paper believes that when given the right attention and direction, the company and all other agri-businesses can transform the economy from a food dependent to a food sufficient one while reducing unemployment. The Graphic says to sustain the momentum; there need to be continuous funding support, market access and policy direction for beneficiary companies as this will stimulate growth and cause the companies to be able to create jobs and generate incomes and prosperity for people, local communities and the country as a whole.

The Daily Heritage is alarmed at the consistent nature and ineffectiveness of the NCCE’s work where their presence is only felt when the Ghana is preparing for national elections. The paper advises the Commission to put proactive measures in place for them to work all year round and not wait till election year before starting to do things that could have been done long ago. It says the teeming youth and children must not go astray in this era of social media therefore the NCCE must not wait but be proactive rather than being reactive.
