The Ghanaian Times urges Government to give priority to specialized geriatric medicine in readiness for the ageing crises expected to soon unfold. The country yesterday (October 1), joined the rest of the world, albeit on a quiet note, to mark International Day of Older Persons instituted by the UN in 1990 to raise public awareness on the wellbeing and special needs of the elderly. The Paper salutes NGOs’ working tirelessly to complement the efforts of Government  to address issues peculiar to the aged population. The Times says ageing is a natural process, and the phenomenon is fast catching up with the country, adding that one must reflect on the contributions of the older persons in national development.

The Daily Heritage discusses the call by the Ghana Journalists  Association, on all media practitioners across the country, to be circumspect in their reportage on the ongoing Secessionist Groups saga in the Volta Region. The Paper finds the statement signed by the GJA President, Roland Affail Monney advising the media, to be mindful of the Constitutional Order and desist from reportage that undermines the Sovereignty of Ghana as fittingly apt. The Paper urges Media Organisations to be meticulous in their fact checking processes on this very sensitive matter. It calls on the leadership of the country to be up and doing and ensure that this sensitive matter is dealt with in a manner that does not leave any indelible negative on the peace that the country is presently enjoying.

As the country celebrates the inauguration of the Tree Crops Development Authority, which is to position Ghana to earn at least 16 billion dollars annually from six selected tree crops by 2028, the Daily Graphic prevails on Government to empower the Authority by resourcing it to the best of its capacity to enable it to deliver its mandate without fail. The paper says it wants to see the same commitment, seriousness and attention given to cocoa, to be given to the tree crops that have been identified.
