The Today Newspaper is concerned about the fate of one thousand seven hundred (1,700) employees of the consolidated bank who will lose their jobs by the end of next month. This is based on the fact that the bank had earlier assured the whole nation that there would be no job cuts. The paper is worried that staff who were dismissed earlier are yet to receive their severance packages and have made this public. The Today Newspaper therefore makes a passionate appeal to the Consolidated Bank to speed up the payment of severance packages to staff who have lost their jobs.

The Daily Graphic quotes statistics from the second Ghana Maternal Health Survey, GMHS, which indicate that maternal mortality in Ghana is higher than the MDG five target of 190 deaths per one hundred thousand live births. The paper however lauds the first lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and the MTN Foundation for their contribution towards reducing maternal mortality. It pray that people who man all healthcare facilities would pay particular attention to pregnant women and also focus on the root causes of maternal mortality.

The Ghanaian Times is optimistic that the visit by the UK Minister of State for Africa, Harriet Baldwin would further improve bilateral relations between the two countries. It says an investment summit planned for October would also mark a turning point in their relations and hopes both countries would implement to the letter the memorandum of understanding relating to Jobs and Economic Transformation for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
