The Daily Graphic believes Ghanaians must support the effort to consolidate the country’s democracy through peaceful and non-violent elections. It says it is aware of efforts by the EC, NCCE, National Peace Council and other stakeholders to strengthen mutual trust and confidence in the electoral process. It therefore urges all political parties to join efforts in sustaining peace before, during and after the elections. The Daily Graphic believes that the signing of the Presidential Election Peace Pact should serve as a reminder for political leaders to demonstrate integrity and a commitment to pursue the path of justice in electoral disputes and avoid violence. It says the prevailing peace must not be taken for granted adding that all must ensure peaceful elections come December.

The Ghanaian Times is of the conviction that the smaller parties are a force to reckon with. This is because the major or the bigger political parties rely on them in the event of a round off for a coalition government. According to the paper, political parties are the foundation block of a democratic state and the return of democracy in 1993 has seen the formation of political parties in the state of Ghana. The Times says it has identified the NDC and the NPP as the two parties that have lived to expectations as being vibrant and vigorous because of their dominance in the political space with power alternating between them since 1993, suggesting that Ghana is a two-party state. The paper, however encourages the smaller parties to assert themselves and become a third force in Ghana’s democratic development.
