The Ghanaian Times is excited that the senior national team, Black Stars have made it to the next stage of the 2019 AFCON, after a rather slow start. According to the paper, qualifying for the knockout is highly commendable. The Times applauds efforts of the officials who worked tirelessly in the background, to maintain team spirit and high morale in camp. The paper calls on all Ghanaians to have a high sense of patriotism in all endeavours and to take heart and accept in good faith when the unexpected happens.

The Daily Graphic is upset at the real consequences of the presence of Fall Army Worms on the potential harvests of farmers across the country. The paper says it has little doubt that the invasion is limited to farms or geographical areas, having received reports of the presence of the pests in virtual gardens in coastal areas, including Accra. It therefore cautions that the current fact-finding mission embarked upon by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to assess the extent of damage by the pests should not be limited to the North-East or any geographical area but must be extended to cover the entire nation. The Graphic says given the investments in cash, effort, energy and other inputs in the overall agricultural booster code named ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ it is unthinkable to allow the pests to cause damage to food stock and calls for decisive action to deal with the worms.
