The Daily Graphic is extremely happy that for the first time in the history of the Fourth Republic, Parliament remained attentive throughout the presentation of the State of the Nation Address. It notes that the usual placard bearing opposition on the floor was absent which created an ambience of business and a feel of a country focusing on its development rather than partisan considerations. The paper commends parliament for the decorous manner in which it allowed the President’s speech to flow unhindered. It also commends the leadership of the house for making it possible and hopes the orderliness witnessed yesterday has come to stay.

The Ghanaian Times describes as good news for Ghana to have recorded as much as three billion dollars in remittances. The paper says though, efforts are being made to regulate the inflows; there is the need for collaboration to ensure the country harnesses remittances for the development of the country. It says, for Ghana  to reap the full benefits of the remittances, it is important to develop policies that would ensure the inflows support the growth of local financial systems by so doing the remittances can become a lifeline for government.
