The Ghanaian Times believes that the choice of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as running mate to the NDC Flag bearer John Mahama, is based on merit rather than any other consideration since she has endeared herself creditably in the development of the country, especially in the education sector. The Paper notes that women empowerment has come of age and deserving women like Professor Opoku Agyeman are capable of occupying high offices in the country. The Times commends the good old Professor for catching the eyes of the party’s stakeholders for this enviable position of a running mate. The Times hopes Professor Opoku Agyemang will enliven the political discourse in the country, with issue-based discussions, as the country moves into the heat of electioneering. The paper says it is not trying to downplay other political contenders, except to say, that Ghanaians are also waiting with bated breath for their candidates contesting the December polls.

The Daily Graphic believes mechanizing agriculture is the surest way to food security. This module which is used under the agricultural flagship programme, Planting for Food and Jobs, seeks to ensure timely preparation of land, sowing, reduce drudgery on farm and off farm operations and also improve efficiency in agriculture. The Paper commends government for recognizing the module and heavily investing in it, believing it will make agriculture, more efficient to increase production of food, lead to a structurally transformed economy and solve issues of unemployment. The Graphic wishes the Sector Ministry well in ensuring food sufficiency and security in the country.
