The Daily Graphic is of the view that with the introduction of the new Fiscal Responsibility Law and Council to reduce the Fiscal deficit to not more than five percent, government needs to strictly adhere to this new policy to ensure a healthy economy. The paper urges the Fiscal Council to be more proactive in its responsibility of monitoring government’s expenditure to make the 2020 election year an exception to overspending.

The Ghananian Times says all attempts to attract the youth to agriculture has failed because it is perceived as menial work. It considers technical know-how in produce handling, poor infrastructure and storage to ensure quality production as major factors making the sector less attractive to the youth. The Times considers the call for the rehabilitation of the Vea Irrigation Project in the Upper East Region by the youth farmers as timely to help reduce migration and loss in the rural workforce. The Times however, believes the issues are not beyond government assistance and urges the District Assemblies to repair the facilities and give the needed training to support the faithful farmers.
