The Ghanaian Times lauds the Minister of Roads and Highways Kwesi Amoako-Atta, for directing the Ghana Highways Authority to remove all illegal speed humps mounted by communities along highways. The paper however brings to the attention of the Minister that community members do not construct such “illegal’’ humps out of pleasure but due to the fact that some drivers ignore road safety measures and over-speed. It says there have been numerous stories of speeding drivers killing some community members and going scot-free. The Times says it is undisputable that driver misbehavior forms the greatest percentage of cases of road accidents, as such, it calls on the appropriate authorities to be up to the task to ensure sanity on the roads.

The Daily Graphic expresses worry about the delayed Tax Exemption Bill supposed to begin in 2019 but has still not been passed and has become a menace to fiscal stability and revenue generation. The paper is of the view that for a country which sources a lot of loans to undertake development projects, there is the need to ensure that a lot more is generated domestically. It, therefore, lauds calls for the passage of the bill which it believes will improve the country’s revenue generation effort, ensure the right value from tax exemptions and reduce borrowing to support the economy.
