The Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times express the need to preserve the integrity of the Ghanaian media landscape. The Graphic says the commemoration of World Press Freedom Day must be a critical time for introspection by Ghanaian Journalists on how they have so far advanced the cause of responsible journalism. It says media platforms have been used to disseminate hate speech, insults, character assassination among others due to the excessive freedom of the media provided in the constitution. The Graphic therefore calls on the public to play a supervisory role in checking the content they consume from the media.

The Ghanaian Times for its part says the right to information and freedom of expression are good constitutional provisions for the Ghanaian media to survive and thrive in a democratic environment like ours. The paper, urges Journalists not to take undue advantage of their freedom to promote chaos, anarchy and sow seeds of discord among the people they seek to serve.
