Ghanaian award-winning blogger Augustus Koranteng Kyei popularly known as Kobby Kyei has stated in an interview that some bloggers only fake headlines just to create traffic and gain more followers. He said this during a sit down with Valerie Danso, co-host on the GTV Breakfast show on the Lifestyle segment.

Blogging refers to writing, photography, and other media that is self-published online. In Ghana, blogging is seen as an opportunity to make some more money because it is a business on its own whilst others only use the internet as a medium to attack other people’s personality, since they feel that is where they can gain more followers.

According to him (Kobby Kyei), ”Some bloggers in Ghana only write misleading headlines just to create some chaos amongst celebrities and also gain more eyeballs on their websites”.

Kobby said he uses his medium to impact lives and blog about social issues that will bring out solutions and develop the country.

Again, he explained that he does not take money to tarnish someone’s image because it is unethical.

Mr. Kyei said if the National Media Commission gets the guts to pull down bad stories about people’s personalities, it will help fish out bad bloggers and regulate the environment to ensure that only certified persons disseminate information, all in a bid to avoid the circulation of fake news.

He suggested that parents should monitor their children’s usage of social media to avoid them falling prey to unscrupulous social vices on the internet.
