Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon, popularly known as Wode Maya, broke down in tears when speaking about his father’s contribution to his career in an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show.

Explaining his father’s contribution to his career, Wode Maya did not hesitate to say “whatever I am doing right now, I will say it’s my dad’s idea, and he was so proud of me when I did my first video talking about China taking advantage of Africa. It was my dad who gave me the car to go and shoot that video and my dad never called me Ghana baby before but that day my dad called me that.”

He continued, “he gave me all his blessings before he passed on.”

Everyone has a person they remember them for, in the case of Wode Maya, he remembers his father for a favorite hymn he used to sing—“Will Your Anchor Hold by Robin Mark”.

He added that his father would sing the song every time things get tough at home to make them understand that whatever they are going through is just temporal not permanent and when things get better, he will say “da na se”, to wit, “Thank God”.

Some people may act tough no matter the situation or wherever they find themselves but for Wode Maya, he could not just hold his feelings but to let them out. In some minutes as the song played, he went silent, bowed his head, and cried.

“I’m still not used to the fact that my father is no more so anytime I hear this song, it makes me so emotional and actually drives me more to continue the legacy that my dad left behind because he was always touching lives and that’s what I want to do too,” the YouTube, vlogger, digital media influencer and aeronautical engineer concluded on Friday, July 8, 2022.
