A seven-day voters’ exhibition is to be carried out in four regions of the country from Thursday October 25 to Wednesday October 31.
The exercise, which is being conducted by the Electoral Commission in the Western, Volta, Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions, will capture 47 districts and municipalities covering the six new regions to be created after the December referendum.
Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana at Sefwi Wiawso, the Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Stephen Opoku Mensah said, officials have been trained to be at the 947 exhibition centres in the nine districts and municipalities to be carved out to serve as the Western North Region.
They are Aowin, Suaman, Juaboso, Bodi and Akontombra Districts. The rest according to Mr Opoku Mensah, are Bia West and East as well as Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai and Sefwi Wiawso Municipalities.
He said each centre will be catered for by one person.
Mr Opoku Mensah explained that the exhibition is to afford the registrants opportunity to check their particulars and make the necessary corrections if any. He said it is also opened to people to willingly object to minors or non citizens registered and help delete the names of deceased persons in the register.
The Regional Director advised the public to take advantage of the exercise and patronize it.
