President Akufo-Addo assures parents of safety of their wards as school re-opens for final SHS

President Akufo-Addo has assured parents of the safety of their wards as SHS final year and form two Gold track students return to school today to prepare for their final examinations.

SHS three students will be in school for six weeks before writing their WASSCE Examinations over a period of two weeks.

SHS Gold Track students who are returning to complete their first semester will be in school for six weeks before going on vacation.

President Akufo-Addo assured parents that government will not put the lives of their wards at risk.

In his 12th televised broadcast on COVID-19, President Akufo-Addo said the over 1,100 Senior High Schools have been fumigated.

He said students and the teaching body will be provided nose masks, veronica buckets, hand sanitizers and tissue papers.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated the need for the students and teachers to strictly adhere to the safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He said failure to do so will put undue pressure on the country’s health system.

President Akufo-Addo announced last week that final year students who will be sitting for this year’s WASSCE, will not pay examination fees.

This is meant to bring relief to parents.

He disclosed that absorbing the WASSCE fees will cost government GH¢75 million.

The SHS graduates who have been termed the Akufo-Addo graduates will be the first to complete under the free SHS.
