Rawlings and the Media

He was alleged to have a somehow tensed relationship with the media. During his early years at the Presidency, it was reported that Former President Jerry John Rawlings had control over national media, and was able to censor the print and electronic media through the PNDC newspaper licensing decree, PNDC Law 221. It was during his time that the Culture of Silence was created and later he created constitutional guarantees for the freedom of the media which is being enjoyed up till now. But how do journalists who worked with him during his time as President see him?
