Evangelism is a major component of Christianity. From the days of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ all the way to Apostle Paul, preachers have adopted several methods to share the word of God in their bid to convert souls and renew the bond between believers and their maker.  Ghana as a secular country has over centuries become accustomed to the conventional way of preaching where pastors and priests use the pulpit to propagate the gospel in churches and other gatherings.  With the passage of time, however, outdoor preaching seems to be gaining ground in the country at a rather faster rate.  Each passing day, the number of preachers keep increasing notably on the streets of Accra, the national capital with their activities adding to the hustle and bustle of city life.  The operations of these street preachers have now become an overbearing concern making many people perceive them as societal nuisance.  In this special report, GBC’s William Owusu Boateng takes a look at the phenomenon of outdoor preaching and examines the possible factors underlying its gradual spread.
