The Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Journalists Association, GARDJA, has expressed its deepest sorrow about the tragic helicopter crash that resulted in the loss of the lives of eight gallant Ghanaians on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Adanse Brofoyedru in the Adanse Akrofuom district in the Ashanti region.

A statement signed and issued by its President, Richmond Frimpong, described the death of the public officials as not just a national tragedy but also a profound setback to the ongoing national efforts at protecting the environment and support for vulnerable farming and rural communities.

GARDJA, which is made up of journalists dedicated to reporting on issues concerning the environment, agricultural production and rural development, noted that the catastrophic incident is even much felt among its membership who deeply understand and selflessly report on the work that many undertake to protect Ghana’s natural resources, support livelihoods, and advanced sustainable development.

According to the Statement, GARDJA, is even more worried that some of the individuals aboard the crashed military helicopter were in the quiet service to the nation to protect the forest, Lands and rural stability.

The statement noted that, the commitment of victims of the helicopter crash should remind all Ghanaians of the immense sacrifices some people have and continue to make in services that usually go unrecognized but are very important for our collective interest and future as a people.

It pledged the resolve members of GARDJA to honour the memory of the victims by continuing to shed light on the importance of the work they died doing, and by amplifying the stories of those who dedicate their lives to Ghana’s environmental and rural development.

GARDJA extended the condolences of its Member journalists to the President, Government and bereaved families for the loss of the lives of those officials in the line of national duty.
